INDONESIAN EYE, JAKARTA Sport is an activity that is useful for physical and spiritual health of humans. But, don’t do it after eating.
Sports Specialist, Dr. Sophia said that exercise would be dangerous if done after eating, because it could cause cramps and dizziness. According to him, when finished eating, blood flow will flow to the digestive tract.
After eating, the human body will focus blood flow on the digestive system to absorb all the nutrients from the food we have eaten. Meanwhile, when we exercise, the body will focus blood flow only to the muscles.
When doing exercise after eating, the blood flow that should flow to the digestion will be diverted to the muscles by the nervous system. If you want to keep exercising after eating, then do it at least one to two hours later. Give the body time to digest and absorb all the nutrients from food.
According to clinical professor of Health Sciences at the University of California, Dr. Daniel, eating before exercising is very inappropriate. He prefers to eat before doing sports.
Dangerous effects will appear if you continue to do regular exercise after exercise, namely:
- Nausea and Vomiting
Excessive exercise will affect the condition of the stomach after eating. Shaking during exercise will cause nausea after exercise. If this activity is done continuously, it will result in vomiting. Food that will be wasted and nutrient absorption does not run optimally. - Stomach Cramps
When your stomach is filled with food, then exercising immediately afterwards will result in cramps in the stomach. Stomach cramps occur because a stomach filled with food is forced to pull on the joints during exercise. - Weight Gain
According to research that examined the relationship between weight and meal times before or after exercise, it showed that weight gain was significantly increased in people who ate before exercise. When exercise is done after eating, then after exercise we tend to feel hungry again. This means that exercise after eating is not meant to reduce calories, but to increase calories for weight gain.
