Jakarta: Cataract surgery Laser eye surgery is currently still considered the most effective way to treat cataracts. The procedure is short and has minimal risk of complications, making this method considered one of the best solutions.
Although laser surgery is effective, a number of side effects after cataract surgery are possible. Call it like eye organs will feel uncomfortable, or appear red for a few days.
“This is normal during the healing period. Usually, these symptoms will disappear and the patient’s vision will return to clear within 6-8 weeks,” said ophthalmologist Siloam Hospitals Buton, dr. Yosylina Pramudya Wardhani Sp.M on a healthy talk education entitled “Cataract Surgery with Laser”.
Therefore, Yosylina advised patients not to wash or touch their eyes. Including doing activities after cataract surgery.
“Avoid dust or smoke and even straining, coughing or sneezing that is too strong. Immediately contact a doctor if there are other incidents such as infection, nausea and vomiting, severe pain, excessive light sensitivity,” he explained.
According to Yosylina, so that the recovery process after cataract surgery goes well, there are several treatment steps that can be taken, namely, taking medication regularly accompanied by a minimum of three days of rest and regular check-ups with the doctor.
Know Phacoemulsification
Phacoemulsification is eye cataract surgery through laser surgical technique which is performed by removing the front part of the eye lens without damaging the posterior capsule. This procedure is safe and painless. After phacoemulsification, the doctor will place an artificial lens (IOL) so that the eye can see more clearly.
“Cataracts attack the lens of the eye which can reduce vision function slowly without pain, for example, ghosting vision when looking far away, even color vision fades like being covered in fog and some complain of glare when looking in bright places,” he explained.
Cataract laser famoemulsification focuses on Ultrasound which is used to provide vibration and heat so that it is able to destroy the ‘nucleus’ and be emulsified, which sucks the destroyed nucleus. Generally, the duration of surgery is relatively short with small incisions that do not need to be sutured.
Yosylina continued, where she works has eye health services, so she is determined to provide the best affordable care for the community. So he wants to answer the needs of the people in Southeast Sulawesi to get quality health care.
