“Remember Death: Depeche Mode Double-Decker Bus Experiences a Mega Rush”

Leipzig – Nothing has changed since the 1980s: Leipzig is the world capital of “fashion” fans…

Huge rush to Depeche Mode’s black double-decker bus: Hundreds of “DeMo” fans are standing on their knees at Leipzig’s Kurt-Masur-Platz to get exclusive merchandise from the cult band.

After the release of their new album “Memento Mori”, Depeche Mode sent their fan bus on a tour of Germany. He makes eight stops selling vinyls, cassettes, t-shirts and bags. The items offered are strictly limited and are only offered in the “pop-up bus”.

The first die-hard fans had already gathered an hour and a half before sales started, in order to be sure of getting the limited record “Memento Mori” in transparent red vinyl (50 euros) and as a cassette (25 euros). Saleswoman Juliette (29): “These items will certainly be sold out at the start of the tour.”

When the counter on the British double-decker bus was opened at 12 noon, the queue stretched from the Moritzbastei to just before Roßplatz.

It will be on Kurt-Masur-Platz between Uniriese and Moritzbastei until 5 p.m. sharp. Then there is an almost 10-hour drive to Munich: The bus only drives 45 km/h, but has a special motorway permit.

But will the exclusive parts still be available in the afternoon? Incidentally, an almost forgotten music carrier that Depeche Mode has included in its range is particularly popular: “The cassette is considered a cult object and is back,” explains saleswoman Juliette (29) and reassures: “No one leaves empty-handed.”

If you want to buy something from the double-decker bus, you have to be patient. Shortly after 12 p.m., the queue was several hundred meters long

The black fabric bags (20 euros) and shirts (35 euros) were also in great demand. Fan Claudia Sommer (54): “I bought three pieces for my boyfriend and me and the 29-year-old daughter …”

Other stations include Stuttgart and Frankfurt. On Saturday in Dresden there weren’t as many loyal fans – mostly between the mid-40s and mid-50s – there as in Leipzig.
