Remedy Entertainment Creative Director Discusses Max Payne 1 and 2 Remakes: Bringing the Classics to Modern Standards

Remedy Entertainment Creative Director Sam Lake in conversation with VGC has shed light on the production of Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes, which are still in the proof-of-concept stage.

According to him, the developers will combine action games into one game and bring them to the modern level. Lake emphasized that this is a very large project that requires a significant investment of effort and resources.

When asked whether Lake would again give the appearance of Max Payne, the creative director avoided answering.

Remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2 were announced in April 2022 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The titles are created in the Northlight engine, which powers Remedy’s latest games, starting with Alan Wake.

The rights to Max Payne still belong to Rockstar Games, which is also financing the production.
