If this year 2020 has many twists and turns, there is one thing that does not change: when cyclists are allowed to compete in competition, Remco Evenepoel wins everything he runs. From San Juan (Argentina) to Burgos (Spain) via the Algarve (Portugal), the Brabançon seems on course to achieve a three out of three this season.
However, his success on Thursday remains a (small) surprise. The main interested party did not seem to be in conquered ground, on the slopes of Picon Blanco:
“The first objective was not to waste time”, humbly acknowledged the young member of the Wolfpack after arrival. It must be said that with 17% passages and real climbers (Sosa, Landa, Carapaz or Chaves) in front of him, one might think that the powerful roller would be hampered by this irregular slope.
