Rembrandt will perform online. The National Gallery reveals the secrets behind the master paintings – ČT24 – Czech Television

Rembrandt’s only painting in the Czech Republic called The Scholar in the Study Room was exhibited for only 18 days. As well as other works of the artist borrowed from institutions and private collections from around the world. Then the gallery had to close. Even so, almost ten thousand people came to see it. No one is allowed to work now, but they can be seen in videos.

They publish one video every Tuesday. Others shoot for children. You may learn, for example, that Rembrandt was a master of chiaroscuro. And that they can play with the light at home. They will also learn about building still lifes or portraiture.

The National Gallery should continue filming even after the openings of the exhibitions

“Nowadays, when we all wear veils and communicate mainly with our eyes, we are inspired by characters from paintings, which often also speak significantly with their eyes,” outlines educator Anna Zajícová.

Adult viewers will learn from the curator why the faces in the paintings are similar. “For a young artist at the beginning of his career, not only his own face, but also the faces of relatives was a very affordable and closest model, which he depicted not only on portraits but also on other figure scenes,” explains curator Lucie Němečková.

Now the videos have a visit to the National Gallery to replace. However, the curators will continue filming even when the exhibition halls reopen to people. Then there will be invitations to the exhibitions.
