After more than a hundred years, a painting probably made by Rembrandt has returned to The Hague. The story of the canvas reads like a detective: stolen from a Weimar museum and resurfaced in the USA, after which doubts arose about the canvas’s authenticity in the late 1960s. New research would dispel this doubt.
