Rembob’INA-Hands of silence: a history of deafness and sign language (1977) – Thursday November 7 at 8:30 pm Unreleased | LCP – National Assembly

Documentary by Simone Vannier, a mobile application for the renewal of sign language in France, in the company of Emmanuelle Laborit.

Rembob’INA offers a special issue dedicated to sign language, with a moving documentary broadcast by Simone Vannier, a strong plea for the renewal of sign language in France, at a time when it was still banned and frowned upon.

The actress and director, who was born deaf, Emmanuelle Laborit, a true sign activist, looks back on her story and the fight that still has to be fought. The opportunity to discover her first appearance on television, at the age of 8, to sign a poem called “Emmanuelle” and relive a historic moment for deaf culture, when, on April 5, 1993, she received the Molière de la Révélation Théâtrale for his role in “Children of Silence”, in front of an audience that was conquered and moved.
