Ubisoft will release a remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time on January 21, 2021. The game features polished graphics and new gameplay mechanics from the 2003 original. The 1980s original is also unlockable.
According to Ubisoft, the new version of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time the first full remake the company makes. The game was made by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai. Among other things, they have rebuilt the cinematic scenes, with improved graphics.
In addition, there is view from new camera angles during gameplay and improvements have been made to the puzzles that players have to solve, to the way of fighting and to rewind time.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was released in 2003 and was the reboot of the classic games from the eighties and nineties. These came from the American Jordan Mechner, who also contributed to The Sands of Time. In the remake, players can unlock his classic Prince of Persia game from 1989. Mechner did not actively cooperate to the new remake, but has been kept informed of the development and has given advice on a number of points.
In the game, the Persian prince and Princess Farah take on the evil Vizier in the realm of the Maharaja of India. He uses the Dagger of Time, with which he can turn back time. With that dagger the prince opened the Hourglass of Time, not knowing beforehand that he would cause great disaster with it.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake costs 40 euros and will be available from January 21 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The PC version will be available on the Epic Game Store and Ubisoft Store and as part of Ubisoft’s Uplay + subscription.
