Remains of the fuselage of the Mirage 2000 fighter plane are found near the Pichu Pichu volcano

After several hours of searching, the head of the Arequipa Police Region, PNP General Colin Macleod Sim Galván, confirmed on RPP Noticias that the rescue brigades have managed to locate remains of the fuselage of the Mirage 2000 fighter plane on the slopes of the Pichu Pichu volcano. in the Chiguata district.

However, the authorities in charge of the search operations have not found the pilot of the combat aircraft. This is Ramiro Rondón Medina, 35 years old, belonging to the Peruvian Air Group No. 4 of the FAP, which lost communication with the La Joya Air Base, during his training last Thursday.

Due to the poor weather conditions in the area of ​​operations, the Special Forces patrols, the crews of an MI-17 helicopter and the institution’s C-26B aircraft, had to suspend the search on the afternoon of Thursday, April 11.

As is known, the Peruvian Air Force (FAP) confirmed the crash of the Mirage 2000 fighter plane that left the La Joya Air Base in Arequipa on the morning of Thursday, April 11.

At approximately 10:31 am, the control tower of the military base lost communication with the ship and the Search, Rescue and Rescue team was immediately activated using aerial means and ground patrol.
