Hitekno.com – United States space agency, NASA start a quest for signs of life on the mission Mars. To be able to do this, rely on it explorer robot Perseverance.

Recently, NASA has successfully conducted an Ingenuity flight. Namely the first helicopter to successfully fly on Mars.

After the Ingenuity helicopter has performed five test flights, the Perseverance cruiser will begin its primary mission.

In a blog post, NASA details some of the images taken by Watson’s camera. The image shows the arm of the Perseverance rover robot.

The instruments and a series of other cameras are essential for explorers to analyze the landing zone in Jezero Crater, a 45-kilometer area believed to contain billions of years old lakes and deltas.

During its mission, Perseverance will explore Jezero for signs of ancient Martian life as well as collect and store dozens of surface samples.

NASA hopes to find out what types of rocks are in Jezero. Sedimentary rocks can contain signs of life in the past.

Another type of rock formed deep beneath the planet’s surface due to volcanic activity is also likely to be in Jezero.

Reporting from CNET on Thursday (13/5/2021), Perseverance will be tasked with grinding rock chunks with its robotic arm to determine the rock composition in the crater.

Another instrument called the Sherloc on the arm of the explorer is also capable of analyzing the chemicals and minerals contained in the rock.

Meanwhile, the return of samples to Earth is scheduled for early 2031. Perseverance is targeted to collect about 40 samples from the Jezero Crater.

That’s NASA’s plan in looking for signs life on Mars rely on the rover Perseverance robot. (Suara.com/ Lintang Siltya Utami).
