London –
Raheem Sterling reveal the reason for leaving Manchester City which he has defended since 2015 towards Chelsea. He left because he didn’t want to be a backup.
Sterling joined Chelsea this summer for a fee of 50.58 million pounds from Man City. This England passport wing left The Citizens which he strengthened for seven years since 2015.
He became Man City’s mainstay in the wing sector with 131 goals and 94 assists in 337 matches. He helped lead Manchester Blue to win four Premier League titles, five English League Cup titles and one FA Cup.

But last season, Sterling began to have to share a role with Phil Foden who began to skyrocket and Jack Grealish who was brought in from Aston Villa for 100 million pounds. Sterling believes a similar situation will occur if he stays at the Etihad Stadium.
This is the main reason for leaving Man City for Chelsea. He admitted that he is not used to sitting on the bench a lot. The reason is that since starting his career in the Premier League, Sterling has become the main choice at the club Liverpool. Even though he was 17 years old at the time.
“Since I was 17, I’ve been a regular starter, and to reach the pinnacle of my career, not playing regularly is something I won’t accept,” Sterling said.
“I had the personality to try to change and change scenarios but couldn’t get it and that’s it. As a person who wants to achieve goals, I feel like my time at City is getting more and more limited due to various reasons.”
“I can’t waste that time, so I have to keep the same level and new challenges,” he said.
