relive the debate on TV7

By Benoît Lasserre – [email protected]

TV7 broadcast this Monday at 7:30 p.m. a debate on high-speed lines to Toulouse and Dax. The tone rose during the exchanges

Alain Rousset and Philippe Barbedienne will not take the TGV together. The president of Nouvelle-Aquitaine and the president of Sepanso 33 clung severely throughout the TV7 debate devoted to high speed to Toulouse or Dax, which was broadcast this Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. But the tone is still rising between the two men, once left the studio. “I do not support this ecology which lets run 10,000 trucks per day on our roads”, launched Alain Rousset to his interlocutor.

And here is the second part of the debate.

The two adversaries are called to cross again because the file is far from closed. On the set of TV7, they are two against two. Side for, Alain Rousset therefore, and Jean-François Clédel, the president of the Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), who denounces “the dogmatism” of the opponents of high speed. Side against, with Philippe Barbedienne and the one who was the lawyer of Sepanso before becoming mayor of Bordeaux, the ecologist Pierre Hurmic.

For Alain Rousset, the arguments against the extensions to Toulouse and Dax are the same as those he heard twenty years ago against the Tours-Bordeaux line. However, he adds, supported by Jean-François Clédel, this one is a real popular success. “We were betting on 3 million travelers, we are at 4,” he recalls. And the second line project is, in his eyes, the only way to develop rail freight and compete with road and air. “When we are against this project, we do not attack the trucks on the road and the pollution they generate. “

The Macron of 2017

Argument swept aside by Pierre Hurmic and Philippe Barbedienne. For the first, high speed “is an outdated concept that links large metropolises to each other and dries up medium-sized towns. “” Doesn’t the TGV stop at Libourne or Angoulême? », Replies Alain Rousset. Has rail freight increased since the entry into service of Tours-Bordeaux, asks the president of Sepanso? His answer is no. “It is not a problem of capacity of the current line which is far from being saturated, it is a question of political will”, declares the one who denounces “irreparable damage to biodiversity and natural spaces”.

Pierre Hurmic, he claims to be President Macron of July 2017 who favored the daily routine rather than XXL projects. “The Tours-Bordeaux line has boosted the use of TER and the Region, with the SNCF, signed an agreement of 1.6 billion euros for TER lines”, replies Alain Rousset.
