World War I was, unfortunately, one of the most extraordinary events of the 20th century, which helped redefine planet Earth in many ways, globally.
But … what if things turned out differently? Come and discover The Great War: Western Front, a game that allows us to rediscover the First World War or even to rewrite it.
American studios Petroglyph are working on The Great War: Western Front, their next title due out early next year for PC.
The Great War: Western Front invites players to participate in World War I, in the middle of the Western Front and, in this way, rediscover or rewrite the history of that conflict.

Players will wear the Theater of Operations Commander's livery (ensuring the most appropriate strategy with high-level analytics) and Operations Commanders' livery (ensuring field application). In other words, it is a game that, on the one hand, allows the creation of more global tactics (in turn) and, on the other hand, allows players to apply these strategies on the ground and in full combat (in real time).
As you would expect, players can choose to control allied troops or the forces of the Central Empires (Germany and Austro-Hungarian Empire).
According to Petroglyph Studios, The Great War: Western Front faithfully reproduces the trench warfare that was extremely common at the time. The managers, in fact, go further, indicating that it is the most realistic simulation of this type of combat, so far carried out in the videogame field.
Each vantage point offers its occupant some unique mechanics that allow them to gain an advantage over their enemies, both in defense and in attack.
Players will have to think strategically in every moment of the game, carefully allocating resources throughout their territory, choosing wisely which points to fortify, in a conflict that has been won, inch by inch.
The game will also have an evolutionary component, through which, through the discovery of new attacks and technologies, it will allow the use of other types of weapons, such as attacks with poisonous gas or more powerful armored vehicles.
Battles take place in a persistent environment, which means battlefields retain the scars of battles as players pass and re-pass through those same locations. On the other hand, the atmospheric conditions, which will be dynamic, will also offer a greater variety of challenges and obstacles to the advance of the troops.
The Great War: Western Front will be released in 2023 for PC via Steam and Epic Games.
