Religious statues vandalized in Brooklyn church

A new surveillance video shows an individual who, according to the police, would have vandalized a church in Brooklyn.

Investigators say the individual allegedly destroyed a statue of Jesus, the cross and one of the signs outside the Saint Athanasius Roman Catholic Church, located near 61st Street and Bay Parkway, in the Bensonhurst sector.

The priest and other members of the church discovered the damage early Friday morning.

They claim that an American flag was also burned.

Police are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime and a GoFundMe page has been created to help restore the church.
