Sister Mirella, of the Sisters of Christ Congregation, celebrated her 70 years of religious life.
With a Eucharist celebrated in the Nuestra Señora del Carmen de Graneros Parish, presided over by Monsignor Guillermo Vera Soto in the company of Father Felipe Pardo, on Sunday, April 14, Sister Mirella of the Sisters of Christ Congregation celebrated her jubilee of “70 years of Religious life”.
Her vocational path began in the commune of Quinta Normal, when her mother enrolled her in the College of the French Providencia Nuns of Grenoble, which operated for years under the care of nuns from the Jeanne D’arc College Congregation. At the age of fourteen, the call of her vocation arose and this led her to approach the congregation on November 4, 1950.
With one year of postulancy and two of novitiate, he took his vows of chastity, poverty and obedience in April 1954. Subsequently, he completed his high school education and entered the Catholic University of Chile where he studied Pedagogy, with a mention in Psychopedagogy and Vocational Guidance.
For Sister Mirella, her work in different schools left her with great joy and satisfaction in working with girls and boys, giving the message that: “The Lord calls to the priesthood, to religious life, to the permanent diaconate, to marriage or to be lay people committed to Christ. I believe that risking one’s life for Christ and his Kingdom is more valuable than possessing great riches in this world.”
Today, after his retirement and far from school classrooms, he dedicates his life to evangelization in presacramental catechesis and, with all his experience, guides first communion children from humble sectors. Additionally, in the company of some lay people, he makes visits and catechetical talks at the Rancagua Penitentiary Center.
At the celebration mass, he was given the greeting of recognition for 70 years of religious life sent by His Holiness Pope Francis.
