This Monday, Gérald Darmanin asked for the reopening of the Pantin mosque, Seine-Saint-Denis, after the resignation of its rector M’hammed Henniche. A resignation which was demanded by the Ministry of the Interior.
“The association managing the mosque of Pantin has changed its leaders. I ask the prefect of Seine-Saint-Denis to get in touch with the new team to consider the reopening of the mosque as soon as possible,” wrote on Twitter the minister.

A closure in the wake of the assassination of Samuel Paty
The Minister of the Interior signed a decree five months ago to close the Pantin mosque for six months. This closure was decided by the government after the assassination of Samuel Paty. The place of worship had notably relayed on its Facebook page a video denouncing the course of this history-geography teacher on the cartoons of Muhammad, shot by a parent of a student.
