Although the original Psychonauts game was a commercial flop, fans have been asking for a full-fledged sequel for over 15 years. This month looks set to really take off with the release of Psychonauts 2. After a mediocre Fig crowdfunding campaign in 2015 and numerous attempts to support the development of a sequel, Microsoft decided to take over the studio in 2019.
In the sequel, we once again step into the shoes of Psychonaut Razputin “Raz” Aquato, where you must prevent the Psychonauts from being undone from within. Once again you can expect a lot of platforming action, where you as a player are taken through crazy worlds in the psyche of the people you meet. If we are to believe the trailers, it will be a worthwhile trip.
Psychonauts 2 is available to play on PCs via Windows, Linux and MacOS, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and Series X/S starting August 25. The game is also included with Xbox Game Pass.
