2. Ordination of priestesses on the Tiber

It can probably be seen as an open provocation against Pope Francis and the current synod in Rome: On October 17th, the “Association of Roman Catholic Priestesses” (RCWP) ordained three deaconesses and three other priestesses on a houseboat on the Tiber. These orders are not recognized by the Roman Catholic Church and the women face excommunication. – Design: Cornelia Vospernik

3. Los Angeles: Record payments to abuse victims

The Archdiocese of Los Angeles is paying a record sum of around 811 million euros to 1,353 victims of sexual abuse. This is the highest compensation payment ever announced by a single diocese. Since 2014, $740 million has already gone to those affected by abuse, bringing the total in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles to $1.5 billion.
