Retro Games today announced that the THEA500® Mini, a fully licensed version of the much-loved 16-bit computer, is now entering production and will be available on March 25, 2022.
The full list of included games has been announced over the past few months, with the latest announcement being the innovative Stunt Racer from games industry legend Geoff Crammond. This groundbreaking game was originally rated highly at its launch in 1989, with scores of 93% in Amiga Format magazine and 92% in CU Amiga-64. Also recently announced were Arcade Pool and Project-X Special Edition 93 from Team 17, F-16 Combat Pilot from Digital Integration and Super Cars II from Gremlin.
With these announcements, the full number of games has increased to 25, with each title being a highly regarded and award-winning Amiga classic. If you own other original Amiga games, they are playable via the WHDLoad feature of the THEA500®. Users can also customize the setup, controller options and display settings.
The launch stock of the THEA500 Mini is scheduled to leave the factory in early January 2022.
“Over the past few months, my team has been working hard to finalize the THEA500 Mini firmware. We also work closely with our partners for the highest possible production quality.”, says Retro Games CTO Chris Smith. “As a sign of our dedication to our loyal fans, we will also be releasing a new Christmas firmware update for THEC64 soon.”
“In addition, we have always excelled in the unboxing experience and we feel that this time we have exceeded all expectations with our best looking product yet”, adds Retro Games Managing Director Paul Andrews.
THEA500 is being developed by Retro Games Ltd. and distributed by Koch Media. The console includes an original style 2-button mouse and newly developed 8-button gamepad. THEA500® will be available from March 25, 2022.
