This year, the various ‘Life Courses’ have already raised more than 2.2 million euros for the Foundation against Cancer. The proceeds from the running events mainly go to scientific research into cancer and welfare projects.
There is currently 2,278,000 euros in proceeds, and the amount is still increasing because donations continue to flow in. This year, a total of 30 Relays for Life took place across the country. There were 33,500 participants and 100,000 visitors.
During a Relay for Life, teams take turns for 12 or 24 hours during a relay around a course. They also allow themselves to be sponsored. At least 1 team member is on the slopes at all times. During the events, cancer is “transformed into an event full of emotion, hope, solidarity and positive energy,” the message reads.
The proceeds from a Relay for Life go entirely to the Foundation against Cancer. It mainly applies to support scientific research. There is also financing for projects aimed at improving the quality of life of patients and their loved ones, especially in the places where the Life Courses take place. The foundation also focuses on prevention (healthy lifestyle) and screening.
The Foundation Against Cancer will kick off the new season of Relay for Life in April.
