According to the Ministry of Environment, the draft amendments to the government regulations provide for the exercise of sports training (lessons) and sports competitions in swimming in public swimming pools not to be subject to the requirement to provide eight square meters of water surface area per visitor.
The ministry explains that swimming training is conducted under the guidance of a certified swimming coach, and the swimming skills of participants in organized training (including various swimming styles, most of which involve breathing in the water) almost completely eliminate the risk of infection during training or competition.
Thus, training and sports competitions in swimming will be subject to the same legal regulation included in the regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers as in other sports, the MoD points out.
The rules for other sports provide that they may waive the distance requirement of two meters apart.
