At the end of 2019, there were 880 thousand photovoltaic plants in Italy for a total power of about 21 GW (+750 MW compared to the end of 2018). Most of these are located in Lombardy and Veneto (respectively 135,479 and 124,085 plants), which together host almost 30 percent of the national sites. In Puglia, on the other hand, there are larger and more powerful ones. Last year, the level of self-consumption in Italy was 4,718 GWh, equivalent to almost 20 percent of the total production of photovoltaic systems.
