Childhood love
‘Jeannine and I also had a relationship in high school,’ Frits told Story. ‘That makes it very nice, that forty years later you fall in love with each other again. Jeannine and I grew up in Ouddorp, near Alkmaar. I used to always come to her parents’ house and she to mine.’
Accidental meeting
After not seeing each other for thirty years, a chance meeting led to renewed contact between Frits and Jeannine. ‘We met on Vlieland ten years ago, when I was sailing there with friends. After that we always kept in touch and now we have a relationship.’ After much deliberation, the two also moved in together last year.
Spotted together
Frits and Jeannine are not often spotted together in public and there is no snapshot of the couple on Frits’ Instagram either. Nevertheless, Story photographer Edwin Smulders managed to photograph the lovebirds at the beginning of their (new) relationship.
