PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind) reached a peace agreement with creditors in the Postponement of Debt Payment Obligations (PKPU) process. In voting, the majority of creditors agreed to homologation.
“Thank God, the PKPU Rekind peace agreement (homologation) has been approved by the court. 222 of the total 229 creditors or almost 97% agree with the homologation,” said BUMN Minister Erick Thohir in his statement, Thursday (1/2/2024).
Erick said that this decision was a new step for the Pupuk Indonesia Holding Company (PIHC) subsidiary to carry out a comprehensive transformation. Erick said that Rekind can now focus on continuing the restructuring process and organizing better corporate actions in the future.
“With this PKPU peace, it means that Rekind can continue its restructuring and transformation process,” he said.
From the start, Erick emphasized his commitment to saving Rekind. According to Erick, Rekind which has advantages in the innovation sector in the fields of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) has a vital role in supporting national strategic projects (PSN)
“From the start, we wanted to improve Rekind because we certainly didn’t want to lose the backbone of Indonesian innovation like Rekind,” continued Erick.
Erick admitted that it was not easy to fix Rekind’s problems due to mistakes in management in the past which resulted in the company’s current financial complexity. However, he said that he was gradually starting to unravel one by one the problems that occurred within Rekind so that it could have healthy and professional performance and operations.
“We are committed to finding solutions and solutions, starting from restructuring to business transformation. Thank God, we hope that homologation will be a momentum for Rekind to organize its business better and more professionally,” said Erick.
