is back in the Netherlands for a while. The 24-year-old winger was allowed to start in the Arsenal starting line-up for the first time this season against PSV by coach Mikel Arteta. Afterwards, the Englishman has to grin when asked about a possible return to Feyenoord, the club for which he was on loan in the 2021-22 season.
“Feyenoord is still looking for wingers, you may have heard that. What if the trainer calls you?”, Nelson is asked in front of the RTL cameras. With a big grin, the Englishman thinks back to his former trainer Arne Slot: “The coach and I have a good relationship. I helped Feyenoord a few years ago and I developed very well there,” he said enthusiastically. “But I have signed a new contract with Arsenal, my heart is with this club at the moment.”

In his only season at De Kuip, Nelson made 33 appearances in all competitions for Feyenoord. He scored twice in the Eredivisie and in the Conference League tournament, in which the Rotterdam team would reach the final that season, which was lost to the Italian AS Roma.
Last season he returned to Arsenal, where he would play eighteen games, eleven of which in the Premier League. He scored three times, including the winning one deep in stoppage time of the home game against Bournemouth, as a result of which The Gunners turned a 0-2 deficit into a 3-2 victory. This year he is still waiting for his first goal in Arsenal’s main squad, where he has extended his contract in the meantime until mid-2027.
