REISO – News – A section to preserve the mental health of seniors


The mental health promotion site of the Latin cantons Santépsy.ch has launched “65+ & mental health”, a section containing information, resources and testimonials “to take care of oneself on the way to aging”.

“Getting older is part of life. It is a natural process that involves many changes and great adaptability. Aging well mentally means taking care of yourself. Mental health and well-being are as essential with advancing age as at any other time in life. In order to enable people aged 65 and over to find information specific to their life experience in matters of mental health, the Santépsy website has added a new section to its promotion platform.

The information contained in this section “65+ & mental health” looks at various themes particularly linked to this period of life. Thus, after a preamble which recalls that “behind the term” seniors “hides a great diversity of profiles and situations which it is important to consider in their uniqueness”, the content is organized in the following categories:

  • The importance of social activities
  • Anxiety, illnesses and accidents, mourning
  • Maintain independence
  • Relationship to one’s body and self-image
  • Cognitive disorders
  • Retirement
  • Decreased standard of living
