Reinhold Pix von den Grünen is running for the first time in the state elections in constituency 48 Breisgau and not in constituency 46 Freiburg I Ost-Hochschwarzwald.
Reinhold Pix has represented the Greens in the state parliament for 15 years. In 2011 and 2016 he obtained the direct mandate in the constituency of Freiburg I. This year the 65-year-old is making a fresh start. His first appearance is in the constituency of Breisgau – his home. As an organic winemaker from Ihringen, he would like to use his skills in what is probably the largest wine-growing constituency in the country.
Personal
After Pix’s party friend Bärbl Mielich announced at the end of 2019 that she would retire and no longer want to run for office in Breisgau, he “couldn’t get rid of his longing for his home constituency,” says Pix. His wife also encouraged him to take the step. Pix then narrowly prevailed as Mielich’s successor at the Greens nomination event against Horbens Mayor Benjamin Bröcker.
