Loaned to Nice last year, Jeff Reine-Adélaïde will be back in Lyon this season, to “see in the long term” and discover “the philosophy” of Peter Bosz, as he explained to the RMC Football Show.
It is the most expensive transfer in the history of the club. In the summer of 2019, Jeff Reine-Adélaïde joined Olympique Lyonnais, for 25 million euros. After a good start to the season, the midfielder had seriously injured his right knee, before joining Nice on loan last October. This season, he will be back in the Rhône, after having refused a new loan on the Côte d’Azur. A personal choice, which he justified at the microphone of the RMC Football Show.
“I had the chance and the opportunity to have an additional year of loan in Nice, explained the international Espoirs. I thank them for that, because it is complicated to propose something after a year of injury. . It was an opportunity, but I made the decision to go home (to Olympique Lyonnais), to see in the long term. ” When he left the Gym last October, he had however confided “not seeing his near future in Lyon”.
Land after injuries
“Juninho has always had a lot of self-confidence to hear from me. It helped me make this decision,” he also added. “JRA” also needed “stability” after two big injuries which greatly slowed down his progress: a first rupture of the cruciate ligament, contracted in December 2019 in Lyon, then a second, contracted in February, from which he has yet to recover. For the time being, Reine-Adélaïde is recovering at Clairefontaine.
“The end of the tunnel, I will see it when I will be with the teammates on the field. For the moment, I continue my progression. It is approaching little by little, I am very happy”, he relativized. The prospect of finding Peter Bosz, new OL coach, at the end of his convalescence, should make him feel better. “Seeing such an experienced coach come to Lyon, with a philosophy that goes really well to the players, it allowed me to make this decision. I think it will allow us to climb the ranks, to continue to progress.”
