Reims singer Thomas Legrand released a new track “Seul”, and chose Reims to shoot the video. A way for him to tell about his experiences in the city of coronations.

For the 30-year-old singer from Reims, putting the city of coronations in the spotlight is a “tribute. I wanted to do it, I’m quite chauvinistic, I appreciate my city“, he smiles.
A city that rocked him from his early childhood until he was 25. After three years in Bordeaux, he returned to the city of coronations a year ago. “When I come back, I find my roots and it touches me. I did all my schooling there.”
So when the question arose of the filming location for his latest song, “Seul”, Reims was an obvious choice: “I passed all these places by bike, on foot, with friends. We spent time talking in these places, so it seemed necessary to me to put them in images“.
The story of the making of the clip is improbable
Before shooting the images, the singer and his team racked their brains for a long time. “With my friend Jonathan [qui apporte sa voix dans le chœur du clip, NDLR], we stayed at my place. We listened to the song again and again to define a storyboard.“, that is to say a sort of pre-production of the video clip on paper.
Once the work is completed, “we decided to go get some fresh air and, on the way out of my house, I ran into an old acquaintance with one of his friends. After long minutes of talking with him, I learned that he is a videographer.“It was enough for the collaboration to be born.
Filming in Reims begins; meticulous work, with ideas”sometimes good” and that “sometimes not suitable“. The team spends more than a week surveying the city center, “looking for the right image of the right spot“.
This search for perfection, aesthetics and accuracy of the image was a non-negotiable condition for Thomas Legrand. Because this song is his story, his experience. “It is inspired by my life. Because sometimes, even when surrounded by friends, we feel alone and sometimes misunderstood when faced with events.“, he says. “We all want to get into life patterns: having children and a good situation. With my desire to make music, I felt misunderstood.“
Now well established in the world of music, the singer wishes to fully evolve there. As he does not currently have a group, Thomas employs “professionals“to play the scores of his songs. When he performs on stage, “in restaurants and bars, such as Grosse Bouteille or Mozza Rémois“, but also at the Cryptoportique during the Fête de la Musique, so he is alone, with his guitar and his microphone.
By 2024, the singer dreams of composing a real music group, “to give a real dimension to the concerts and to start the real scenes, like the first concert parts, notably at the Arena“.
