Rehabilitator spoke about the colossal damage to the body from COVID-19

Experts report the likelihood of long-term health problems that can occur in people who have had coronavirus.

Head of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation of Sechenov University Konstantin Ternovoy explained RTthat we can talk, in particular, about cardiovascular diseases, endocrinological disorders and neuropsychiatric problems.

COVID-19 does not go away like ordinary pneumonia. Often the disease is associated with severe intoxication of the body and high fever, which does not decrease in any way. All this is a colossal loss to health,” he emphasizes.

In some COVID-19 patients, lung damage can be as high as 90 percent. But other organs are also affected by the coronavirus.

“Many organs have receptors for this virus. They are in the pancreas, heart, testicular tissues. There is also a violation in the blood coagulation system,” says Konstantin Ternovoy. For this reason, by the way, patients take blood-thinning drugs and vitamin K. Otherwise, there is a risk of strokes and heart attacks.

According to the rehabilitation therapist, pulmonary pneumonia is the most critical manifestation of coronavirus infection. But doctors do not yet have complete information about what is happening with other organs.

Konstantin Ternovoy adds that coronavirus infection can complicate diabetes. Damage to the pancreas is not excluded. Microthrombosis can damage other organs. The use of cardiotoxic drugs and antibiotics can affect the kidneys and liver. Coronavirus also negatively affects men’s health. In addition, patients with COVID-19 may experience depression, apathy, and asthenic syndrome.
