The situation of the coronavirus epidemic in Spain continues to worsen and the second wave is causing the number of daily infected not to drop below 10,000. Specifically, in the last 24 hours Health has notified 1,289 new cases and 130 more deaths.
Some worrying data that places the total number of infected in 693.556while the dead amount to 31.034, surpassing the barrier of 31,000.
Once again, the incidence of COVID-19 is asymmetric in Spain and the Community of Madrid leads the contagion table (3,730), ahead of Andalusia, with 431; Navarra, with 421, and the Basque Country, with 375.
Madrid also leads the number of deaths, with 171 deaths in the last week. Behind it is followed by the Basque Country, with 54; Aragon, with 51; Andalusia, with 46; Castilla y León, with 42; Galicia, with 24, and the Valencian Community, with 26.
Care pressure continues to grow
With the number of positives growing day by day, pressure on hospitals continues to mount. In Spanish hospitals there are already 10,755 hospitalized for coronavirus, of which 1,436 (88 more) are in ICUs. In addition, from Tuesday to Wednesday there were more entries (1,362) than highs (1,266).
Like the number of infections and deaths, care pressure is very different depending on each territory.
Madrid has 24.9% of the hospital beds occupied by patients with coronavirus; while Castilla-La Mancha, is at 13.8%; Aragon, by 12.7%; La Rioja, at 11.6%; Castilla y León, in 10.9%; Balearic Islands, at 10.3%, and Navarra at 9.8%.
The percentage of beds occupied in intensive care units it is 16.4%; checking in the highest rate in La Rioja, with 40.3%; followed by Madrid, with 38.2%; Aragon, with 31.4%, and the Balearic Islands, with 24%.
Cumulative incidence remains at very high levels
The other data, perhaps the most important, is that of the cumulative incidence (AI), which marks the number of positives per 100,000 inhabitants. Here, Madrid also leads the ranking with an AI of 754; followed by Navarra, with 657; La Rioja, with 460; Aragon, 385; Castilla-La Mancha, 398; Murcia, 396; and Castilla y León, 350.
Asturias is the only autonomous community with an AI `below 100, although its cumulative incidence has gone from 98.5 on Tuesday to 99.5.
