Regret of Snacking During Pregnancy: Baby’s CPD and NICU Struggle

Jakarta

Cephalopelvic disproportion (CPD) was experienced by a mother who liked to snack carelessly during pregnancy. CPD is a condition when the baby’s head or body is large enough to fit into the mother’s pelvis during the birthing process.

The pregnancy period is an important period to determine the condition of the baby when it is born. It is important for a pregnant mother to pay attention to the food she consumes so that there are no regrets when the baby is born.

Regret when giving birth was experienced by a mother named Sukma Hapsari who shared a story about her negligence which resulted in her newborn having to struggle in the NICU.

“Stupidity during pregnancy resulted in my baby struggling in the NICU for 6 days,” wrote Sukma Hapsari in a post on her Tiktok account.

In his upload, Sukma talked about his negligence in liking random snacks, especially when entering the second trimester. Sukma enjoyed consuming foods containing mayonnaise, SKM and sugar almost every day.

This hobby was carried out without her husband’s knowledge, even Sukma did not hesitate to avoid it and hide behind the phrase “this is what Grandpa wanted” if her husband found out about her bad habits.

By the time she entered her eighth month, Sukma’s eating habits were getting worse and she no longer thought about the weight of the baby in her womb. This very unhealthy eating pattern continued until the doctor warned him of the dangers of his habit.

The obstetrician who treated her during an ultrasound in the eighth month said that the fetus’ weight was beyond normal limits. If you want to give birth naturally, like it or not, your soul has to start going on a diet.

After that, Sukma started going on a diet and his weight no longer increased, but he often experienced oddities in his body such as shortness of breath and stomach acid that often spiked.

As a result of the complaints she experienced, Sukma went to a different gynecologist. Then the doctor said that Sukma had to immediately have a caesarean section because the baby in her womb had CPD, excess amniotic fluid, and the baby was in a transverse position making it impossible to give birth normally.

Her bad habits had an impact on her baby, when the baby was born she only whimpered and didn’t cry loudly. Doctors diagnosed the baby as swallowing amniotic fluid and experiencing respiratory failure.

Finally, Sukma had to go home from the hospital without her baby because her baby was still struggling in the NICU. Every day she had to go back and forth to the hospital to deliver breast milk to her baby.

After everything she experienced, Sukma admitted that she was very sorry because during pregnancy she did not pay attention to her diet. Apart from that, he gave a message to pregnant women out there to pay attention to their diet so they don’t experience the same thing as themselves.

“For pregnant women out there, please pay attention to your diet. Don’t let what we eat harm the fetus we are carrying,” wrote Sukma, quoted from her personal Tiktok account.
