Hmm sounds interesting, do you send the screen directly instead of via the OS?

My 2009 imac 27inch has GPU problems, a common problem with the imacs from that time. As far as I understand, it has to do with heat problems, bad thermal paste/bad heatsink or something, and when it gets too hot, hairline cracks form on the pcb, even hotter, and this is enough to break contacts, resulting in artifacts and crashes.

For TDM I think you still need the GPU, however, it works more as a kind of pass-through, it doesn’t have to do much and therefore doesn’t get too hot, which is why this works for me. In terms of power, a disadvantage is that there is actually a computer with OS running and not doing anything at all.

Maybe someday a nice project to REALLY turn the imac into just a screen
