Registration Open for Poets in ‘Poet of a Million’ Program’s 11th Season

ABU DHABI, 14th August, 2020 (WAM) — The Committee for the Management of Festivals and Cultural and Heritage Programs in Abu Dhabi continues to receive applications for registration of poets wishing to participate in the “Poet of a Million” program, in its eleventh season, through the program’s website until August 26.

The organizing committee of the program had previously explained the registration mechanism for those wishing to participate via the website of the “Million’s Poet” program (provided that the age of the poet or poet is not less than 18 years and not more than 45 years, in addition to sending a metered and rhymed Nabataean poem of no more than 20 verses and no less than 10 verses, and the poem must be printed. Handwritten poems are not accepted.

The jury pointed out that those wishing to run for the new season can view full information about the steps and process of electronic nomination through the official website of the program, explaining that the current season of the “Poet of a Million” program is characterized by hosting the poets nominated for the interview stage in Abu Dhabi during next October to select 100 poets from among those qualified for the stage. Examinations, and then subjecting them to written tests and interviews to select the final list according to technical and monetary criteria, to compete for the title of the largest program of Nabati poetry.

The program gives valuable prizes and rewards to the five poets who won the first places, amounting to 15 million dirhams. The winner of the first place will receive the title of the Million’s Poet in addition to the poem’s poetry and five million dirhams, while the second place winner will receive four million dirhams, the third will receive three million dirhams, the fourth will receive two million dirhams, the fifth will receive one million dirhams, and the sixth will receive 600 thousand dirhams.
