Registration for the English language competition for 5th grade students – “Let’s have fun”, organized by the Municipality of Burgas and the Center for Personal Development Support, has begun. This is the fourth edition of the competition, which will be held in schools on 17.04.2024 from 15.00 to 16.00.
The period for enrolling students continues until 15.03.2024 inclusive. Registration is done by the English language teachers of the 5th grade classes in each school.
The competition is conducted through a test with a duration of up to 60 minutes to solve. It consists of 11 language tasks for reading and writing with a different number of points, covering the lexical and grammatical material in English for the 5th grade, according to the curriculum of the Ministry of Education and Science for the 5th grade of the English language. The tests will be provided by the Municipality of Burgas.
The participation is anonymous, the ranking is done in descending order according to the number of points received, and the results will be announced via the incoming number of the participant, no earlier than 29.04.2024 on the website of the Municipality of Burgas – www.burgas.bg and the Center to support personal development – https://www.odk-burgas.com/.
The ranked participants in the prize places will be awarded with a prize fund by the Municipality of Burgas. The prizes include 7 one-time financial prizes under the municipal program “Burgas Children” for the students with the highest results, a medal and certificate for those ranked in I, II and III place, certificates for all participants, and for the team ranked schools in I, II and III place – certificate and cup.
The awarding ceremony for the distinguished participants will take place on 15.05.2024 at the open stage “Snail”.
The competition is part of the program for early foreign language training of the Municipality of Burgas, implemented by the Center for Personal Development Support. Its goals are to check the development and sustainability of the program, which was introduced in the academic year 2015/2016 on the idea of the mayor Dimitar Nikolov, to provide an opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge and results of the work of their teachers.
The Municipality of Burgas will continue to develop the program for early foreign language training in the coming years, as an important part of children’s development and the future realization of the labor market.
