From November 3 to 5, the 25th version of the Calixto Ochoa Festival will be held in the town of Valencia de Jesús, jurisdiction of Valledupar, in tribute to Félix Ochoa Ebrat. Therefore, registration for contestants will be open until Monday, October 30 in their different categories.
This was announced by Mono Altamar, president of the Calixto Ochoa Festival Foundation, who reported that the open competitions are Canción Inédita, Piqueria and children’s accordion players.
Registrations can be made in person or by email festivalcalixtoochoa@gmail.
For the Unpublished Song, the participant must provide three copies of the lyrics of the song, listing the name of the Composer, title of the song, rhythm, place of origin of the participant, cell phone contact and copy of the ID.
In the category of children’s accordion players, the contestant must present a copy of the identity card of the minor up to the age of 14, a copy of the ID of the parent responsible for the minor and list the participant’s place of origin. Likewise, in piquería the copy of the participant’s ID and relate place of origin and cell contact.
This year the version of the festival will be held in tribute to Félix Ochoa Ebrat, who more than a nephew, was a brother to Calixto Ochoa, he was his promoter, admirer and defender. He was in charge of scrutinizing his uncle’s every step, from whom he inherited the gift of composing songs and even assimilated his way of speaking and even singing, apart from their great physical resemblance, in addition to sharing the warmth of the same father, because Félix was raised by his grandfather César, Calixto’s father. Félix was the son of Rafael Arturo, Calixto’s older brother.
During the festival, the Color Parade ‘El mundo de Calixto’, the first Craft and Entrepreneurship Fair ‘Chan Con Chan’, cultural activities, a discussion about the life and work of Calixto Ochoa and musical presentations will be held, among others. which highlights the main show with Zona 8 by Rolando Ochoa.
