Register as unemployed and apply for unemployment benefit

If you are still in a job, you should immediately register as a jobseeker – at least 3 months before your employment relationship ends. If you find out at short notice that you are about to lose your job: Report as jobseeker no later than 3 days later.

It is important that you yourself as soon as possible register as jobseeker. This is the only way we can provide you with the best possible support in your search for a new position. If you can prove that you are looking for work late, your entitlement may be suspended for a week (technical term: blocking period). That means you are for this week no unemployment benefit to get.

You can also report in writing or in person to your employment agency as well as by telephone on the service number 0800 4 555500 (free of charge).

Note: Please log in only one way looking for work.
