The Risk Management Group (RMG) met this Sunday afternoon, at the request of the Regions, to take stock of the situation of Belgians returning from regions, including Catalonia, where new outbreaks of coronavirus are detected, confirmed different sources to Belga.
Saturday, the Catalan government has decided to quarantine the district of El Segria, in the province of Lerida, after the emergence of new cases of contamination. Following this measure, Belgian Foreign Affairs changed the travel advice for Spain from green to orange.
Travelers returning from Catalonia by plane are also asked to complete a questionnaire detailing the places they went to and the contacts they had. “We also ask them to be tested and to place themselves voluntarily in quarantine“, Health Minister Maggie De Block said at noon on Sunday.
But the Regions, wanting more clarity, called for a meeting of the RMG. As of Saturday evening, the Walloon Minister for Health, Christie Morreale, thus asked that the subject of Catalonia and the general question of the return of the holidays in the event of infected zones be approached.
“Exchanges are still in progress“says one side of the cabinet Morreale. Recommendations are expected in the evening, we learned elsewhere.
The Risk Management Group should meet again tomorrow / Monday in order to develop a global strategy across the country, particularly with regard to testing and the issue of communities.
