The governor gave the indications on who to support in the regional elections directly Vincenzo De Luca. This is a summary of the version of events provided yesterday in court by Fiorenzo Zoccola, said Vittorio, considered the ras of the social cooperatives that were entrusted by the Municipality with the maintenance of public green areas in the city. Yesterday, having completed his interrogation, the entrepreneur then answered the lawyers’ questions Giuseppe Della Monica, Gaetano Manzo, Agostino De Dear e Giovanni Annunziata, outlining the same picture.
In practice with Nino Savastano, after a very long interruption, relations were resumed on the occasion of the 2021 regional elections. But, no agreement was made with the then municipal councilor for social policies, candidate for a seat in the regional council, but rather it was De Luca who directly indicated the 70% support for Savastano and 30% for Franco Picarone.
In short, the contact person for the king of the co-ops was directly the governor of Campania, even if he knew or had relationships with the candidates, or rather with all the Deluchian ones, but it was always the “president” who gave the electoral indications on who to vote for and asked to do vote. Furthermore, the accused specified that even if he had not established relationships with Savastano again, he would have voted for him anyway because his indications had been those of massive support for his candidacy.
The hearing lasted just over a couple of hours to complete the third part of Zoccola’s interrogation, although it was interrupted to proceed to a chamber. At the end, the judges considered the disputes deriving from declarations made following the readings of the wiretaps usable, although declared unusable. There was no shortage of moments of tension during the examination of the accused and his answers, which however he then responded to in a substantially linear manner.
There was also talk of the electoral support given to the candidate Virgilia Fogliame, on which there was an indication to give a vote in addition to that of Savastano. A decision initially passed as a system to check the votes actually given to the then municipal councilor. The ras of the social cooperatives, however, argued in the chamber that it was not a combination designed to control Savastano’s vote, but exclusively to allow the candidate to have electoral visibility also in Salerno.
The next hearing in the trial has been adjourned to May 27 when Savastano will be questioned by prosecutors Elena Cosentino e Guglielmo Valenti. Presumably on the same day there will also be a cross-examination by the defenders.
