The Hessian Interior Minister Peter Beuth and the Hessian Health Minister Kai Klose presented details of the planned vaccinations against the corona virus on New Year’s Day. The six regional vaccination centers are scheduled to open from January 19, 2021. For the people in the entire Main-Kinzig district, the responsible regional vaccination center is in Frankfurt am Main. It is not yet known when the vaccination centers in Hanau and Gelnhausen will open.

The Hessian Interior Minister Peter Beuth and the Hessian Health Minister Kai Klose declared: “We will open the six regional vaccination centers from January 19th. In view of the manageable quantities of vaccines, they will not be running at full capacity yet, but thousands of citizens across the country will receive their vaccinations every week As soon as there is increased vaccine production and further approvals for effective vaccines in Europe, we can open our further vaccination centers. At the moment, however, protection in the elderly and care facilities as well as for the staff in the particularly stressed hospitals has top priority. “
Hessians, who belong to the highest priority group according to the Corona Vaccination Ordinance of the Federal Ministry of Health, can register for their personal corona vaccination from January 12, 2021. These are mainly women and men who are 80 years or older. There are two ways for members of the first group to have a personal vaccination appointment: either by calling the hotline 116 117 or registering online via the website impfterminservice.de.
Six regional vaccination centers
The vaccinations will begin on January 19, 2021 in the six regional vaccination centers Kassel, Gießen, Fulda, Frankfurt, Wiesbaden and Darmstadt. They supply the cities and the entire surrounding area (which regional vaccination center includes which cities and communities can be seen here: https://hessenlink.de/2LeEr). This means that there is a responsible regional vaccination center for every Hessian and every Hessian.
Almost 21,400 Hessians received their first vaccinations
[image-1-v]So far, the state of Hesse has received almost 100,000 vaccination doses since December 26, 2020. On the advice of the federal government, half of the available amount is initially stored safely in the state’s distribution center at around minus 70 degrees, so that the important second vaccination can be guaranteed in any case. This should usually take place three weeks after the first vaccination. In the first five days of the nationwide vaccination campaign, around 21,400 people were vaccinated in Hessen.
Protection for those who need it most
Residents and staff of retirement and nursing homes are currently being visited in the facilities by the mobile teams of the districts and urban districts. A total of around 113,000 women and men in Hessen are potentially eligible for vaccination. In addition, employees in clinics that are particularly challenged in the fight against SARS-COV-2 can currently receive a vaccination. The local skilled staff take care of the vaccination of around 15,000 people themselves.
In addition to these groups of people, the highest priority for the vaccinations are the employees of the emergency services and the outpatient care services as well as all other people from the age of 80 who have not already been vaccinated in the elderly and care facilities by the mobile teams. In total, the first group according to the federal vaccination ordinance in Hesse includes around 567,000 people. Hessen follows the prioritization given in the federal vaccination ordinance (see “Background”).
“Citizens who want to be vaccinated and cannot be vaccinated yet, we ask for your patience. The prioritization of certain groups of people is specified by the Federal Ministry of Health and is mandatory because not enough vaccine is available yet to vaccinate all people who We are all working quickly to ensure that things continue as quickly as possible in Hesse, “said Interior Minister Peter Beuth and Health Minister Kai Klose.
