In a statement, the department headed by Enrique Ruiz Escudero has recalled that the holidays, with the departure of thousands of citizens to their summer resorts, together with the incidence of Covid-19, which temporarily prevents donating, and the successive heat waves , have placed the reserves at a “very deficit” level.
In fact, at the moment groups 0-, 0+, A and A+ are on red alert for urgent donation, while AB- and B- are on yellow alert for donation in the next two or three days.
“If the current situation is negative, the trend is very worrying”, highlighted the Ministry of Health, which points out that an average of 550 donations are being made per day when around 900 are needed to cover the hospital demand in the Community from Madrid.
