REGIONAL: The Le Temps des cerises list wants to “guarantee equal access to health”

The list supported by La France Insoumise targets the Regional Health Agency of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.

The Cherry Season press release of May 3, 2021:

Health: austerity kills.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, the French have become aware with dismay and anger of the damage that has been done for more than 30 years to their Social Security. Every year, each budget voted results in new closures of hospitals, intensive care beds, cuts in services …

The public hospital is forced to degrade its service and the Covid crisis is not the cause but the revealer.

The situation is particularly difficult for those who, living in rural areas, are far from equipped health centers. Zealous implementers of liberal policies, the Regional Health Agencies (ARS) “rationalize” the supply of care in the territories – in good French, they reduce it – to the point of causing appalling and revolting tragedies.

This was the case, for example, on March 9, for this 44-year-old mother residing in Ouagne in the Nièvre, victim of a ruptured cerebral aneurysm. She died after long hours of waiting and an evacuation to Dijon (where critical care services are centralized) made impossible due to the unavailability of the helicopters. Do the Burgundians and Franc-Comtois know that the ARS, in addition to removing the technical platforms in the administrative centers of the arrondissement, has imposed savings on vital emergency transport?

This tragic story is unfortunately not an isolated case. Several serious incidents that have occurred in recent weeks are attributable to these policies of destruction of our public health system. Our Region must mobilize!

Le Temps des cerises is committed to taking the necessary measures to guarantee equal access to health for all citizens, whether they live in urban or rural areas.

We will guarantee the maintenance of the 2 CHUs of Besançon and Dijon, we will develop multidisciplinary public health centers with salaried doctors, we will reopen local emergency services, beds and maternity as part of the Regional Health Scheme.

Our health is a public good, let’s protect it!
