The call was launched a few days ago on social networks. This Saturday, a regional rally called “24 hours against Macron, Darmanin and fascism” will be held in Rennes. In addition to the law on pensions, now adopted, the collectives behind the movement also intend to denounce the rise of the far right in the country, taking as an example the recent events in Saint-Brevin-les-Pins (Loire-Atlantique ) where the mayor resigned after months of intimidation and the burning of his home.
“We had to wait for the resignation of Yannick Morez for the State to deign to react without really pointing the finger at the far right,” denounces La Maison du Peuple, an ultra-left collective from Rennes on its Twitter account. The first rally is scheduled for 2 p.m. Place de la République before a second announced for 4 p.m. on the Esplanade de Gaulle.
A concert by rapper Millésime K in the evening
In the evening, the demonstrators also planned to cancel the concert of the controversial rapper Millésime K which must occur in Rennes in a place still kept secret. “Millesime K’s lyrics clearly incite violence, so it is necessary to stop it,” reads a petition signed Rennes vs Darmanin. This collective had already organized a demonstration on April 29 in Rennes against the immigration bill and the expulsion operation in Mayotte, which brought together around 500 people.
Fearing overflows during the day, the prefecture of Ille-et-Vilaine issued an order on Thursday in particular to prohibit the carrying of artificial mortars and dangerous substances.
