Didier Paris and François Patriat accuse Geoffroy Sécula of “flagrant inequality of treatment”. He responds by advancing that the participants were “shocked” by the attitude of a running mate.
Press release from Didier Paris and François Patriat of June 11, 2021:
When Geoffroy Sécula, President of CPME Côte-d’Or, confuses his mandate and his political positions
“The Côte-d’Or CPME organized, on June 9, in Dijon, a debate between the candidate lists for the regional election on June 20 and 27.
Denis Thuriot, head of the “presidential majority” list, retained at the same time by the visit of Gerald Darmanin, was represented by one of our running mate, Christian Duchet.
Geoffroy Sécula, president of the departmental CPME, used this as an excuse not to authorize our list to present its economic program to business leaders, only granting him the possibility of answering any questions from the room.
This flagrant inequality of treatment is not admissible.
We strongly condemn this denial of democracy and the personal political position expressed on this occasion by President Sécula.
The SMEs of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté are an essential driver of the dynamics of our region and we intend to do everything to help them develop. They deserve better than this partisan attitude. “

CPME 21 press release of June 11, 2021:
The CPME 21 organized this Thursday, June 10, 2021 an event entitled “the political meeting by CPME 21, meet the heads of the list in the regional elections Bourgogne-Franche-Comté”. All the top of the list were invited to participate, four confirmed their participation: Marie-Guite Dufay, Stéphanie Modde, Gilles Platret and Denis Thuriot.
Mr. Thuriot’s team asked us to be represented by a running mate. This request had been made to us a few days earlier by another head of the list and we had refused because we wanted our members and partners to be able to meet the heads of the list who will chair the assembly of elected officials of the community in the event of victory.
In the interests of fairness, we have therefore also refused Mr. Thuriot’s team by offering to intervene between 9 am and 9:20 am and thus be able to welcome Gerald Darmanin on his arrival in Dijon.
Their response was unfavorable and they confirmed to us in writing the day before the event that they understood our proposal and proposed to us, also in writing, that a running mate take the floor for 12 minutes to answer questions from the room. .
Despite our agreement to their proposal, Mr. Thuriot’s running mate interrupted me during my introduction to invoke a breach of equal treatment and then leave the room. All those present, members, partners and elected officials were stunned and shocked by his attitude.
One thing is certain, they would have done better not to participate in our event given their priorities rather than reacting in this way in front of the business leaders who came in large numbers to listen to them. The three candidates present, Marie-Guite Dufay, Stéphanie Modde and Gilles Platret congratulated us on the organization of this event and the business leaders present appreciated the exchange and the moment.
Geoffroy Sécula,
President CPME 21
