Aperformance against Absdorf gives the ATSV troops courage. Injury to Maxi Sassmann was a downer.

“After such a performance, you can look forward with optimism,” said ATSV sports director Andi Barta happily after the final whistle against Absdorf. His team fought for a remarkable draw in the test against the middle team from the 2nd Regional League West. The equalizer in the 86th minute resulted from an own goal, but the sporting director assures: “If the defender hadn’t put the ball in himself, one of our players would have been there!”

The ATSV played with a five-man chain, i.e. with three central defenders. One of them was Esad Keserovic. The defense chief, who had to sit out the entire autumn due to a knee injury, was able to play through again for the first time. “But he’s not completely pain-free yet,” reports Barta. 17-year-old Fabian Berger, who moved from Neulengbach to Schönfeld in the winter, celebrated his debut. “You could see that he had talent. He can become something,” the sporting director is certain.

The only downer was the substitution of Maxi Sassmann due to injury. The captain felt a pain in his knee immediately after the restart in the second half. Barta: “I hope it’s nothing serious and that he’ll be fit again by the start of the championship at the latest.”
