After the decision that only two teams from the Regionalliga Südwest will be relegated, the KSV now has a lot of planning security. On May 1st, starting at 2 p.m., the duel against Offenbach is on the agenda.
Kassel – “It’s a game we’re really looking forward to. After the regional league’s decision, the pressure is of course a little off for us, but for Offenbach as second in the table there is a lot going on, ”said KSV coach Tobias Damm. These are turbulent days that the Lions are currently experiencing. First the race to catch up in Großaspach, then the cup against Steinbach and now the news that the shareholders’ meeting and game committee of the Regionalliga Südwest does not allow promoted players from the major leagues. The first resistance is already forming there.
Reactions of the KSV
KSV trainer Tobias Damm: “I can understand the anger and anger of the league clubs. But anything else would be absurd if teams were promoted that had only played 25 percent of the games. As a regional league team, you ended up playing 42 games, constantly having to take care of corona measures and then swapping places with a top division team that may have only played eleven times? That can’t be. ”KSV captain Frederic Brill:“ I’m delighted with this decision. However, we haven’t been relegated a single time this season, and we want it to stay that way until the end. We want to keep leaving six teams behind us so that we would stay in the league without this decision. Unfortunately, after the promotion to the Green Table last year, the emotions will be missing again this time to be able to celebrate the relegation properly. “Jörg Müller (sporting director):” That is a fair decision, which surprised us at the time. We didn’t expect that on Thursday evening. Nevertheless, we can now go into the upcoming talks with players with some planning security. One or the other league team will take legal action against the regulation, but the regional league has certainly secured itself legally. “
Other reactions
Some of the upper division clubs affected, who were in first place at the time of the end of the season, have already spoken out. So Eintracht Trier issued a message on Thursday evening that they wanted to have the decision examined legally. Jochen Schneider, 1st chairman of Wormatia Worms, is quoted as follows on the association’s website: “We were surprised to see the decision, because in the past few weeks we received the opposite impression from the official side.” Here, too, wanted to consider legal action. Volker Bagus, board member of the SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz, called the regulation a “ridiculous judgment”. All means will be used to counteract it. Since Alzenau and Stadtallendorf currently occupy the last two places in the Regionalliga Südwest, the future Hessenliga would grow from 20 to 22 teams in the event of relegation.
The Hessenderby
From a personnel point of view, the news that Damm announced before the game against the Kickers is somewhat better. Both Brill, who has been training again since Wednesday, and Mahir Saglik are returning to the team, and Ingmar Merle is also fully operational again. Alban Meha is still missing, Jon Mogge is questionable. “Of course it’s a shame that we have to play this game again without our fans. The fact that Offenbach was thrown out against Alzenau in the Hessen Cup shows repeatedly that you can only win if you call up all the percentages, “says Damm.
For Brill there is not only something to make up for after the first leg, in which the Lions lost 1: 5: “With a win, we also want to help Offenbach stay in the league and not move up. After we are almost certain that we will stay in the league, we could look forward to two more derbies next season. ”And Müller adds:“ It’s like 40 years ago today: the boys are hot for this duel. ”
