Kolda: Regional hospital workers demand governor’s departure

The governor of the Kolda region is in the crosshairs of workers at the regional hospital. Ousmane Kane is accused of “lack of respect for the populations of Fouladou”.

An accusation justified by the fact that the head of the regional executive did not receive these workers who came to give him the memorandum containing their demands. In front of the governance, the workers accompanied by civil society, political actors, other trade union groups and the populations, expressed their anger towards the governor.

According to Dr Daouda Djiba, spokesperson for the hospital’s intersyndicale, here are two times in a row that the governor does not receive the workers in their mood. Enough for the crowd to shout out loud “Governor get out!” For this day, notification is made to the walkers who have come to the governance that the owner of the place is not willing to receive them because it is a non-working day. A notification poorly appreciated by the marchers who demand the departure of Governor Ousmane Kane.

Despite the absence of the governor in front of these marchers supervised by the police, the inter-union of workers of the regional hospital reiterated its complaints which have for names, insufficiency of qualified personnel, lack of efficient working equipment, absence of scanner and also laundry machines, among others. “We are tired of always taking to the streets to demand better working conditions without anyone listening to us. The authorities are turning a deaf ear to these needs of the people of Kolda,” said Dr Djiba. Adding that the hospital is sick, too, because of the incompetence of its director.
