Regional history has an appointment at the Grand-Jardin

Joinville will host the 17e edition of Regional History Days (JHR). Organized by the Grand-Est Regional History Committee, this event will be held on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 April, at the Château du Grand-Jardin.

More than 60 associative or professional heritage structures (archives, libraries, museums) from the Grand-Est will be present. Also on the program will be workshops for children (knights’ school, stone cutting, pen writing, etc.), conferences, events, exhibitions, booksellers’ and publishers’ stands, guided tours. “Admission will be free and free throughout the weekend when nearly 1,600 visitors are expected”, announced the officials of the former tourist office during the preparatory meeting held Monday, February 6, at the Château du Grand -Garden. The members of the delegation from the Regional History Committee (an elected body of representatives of Grand Est history and heritage associations) explained that, among the medium-sized towns of Champagne-Ardenne, Joinville has distinguished itself by the heritage and tourist attraction of the Château du Grand Jardin and its rich historical heritage, but also by its proximity (historical and geographical) to Lorraine, allowing more structures to participate in the JHR. The dynamism of the teams of the attractiveness agency and the tourist office was also an additional asset.

The purpose of these days is to make known to as many people as possible the historical and local heritage riches. With the theme “Childhood, growing up over time”, the different stages of childhood, from birth to adolescence, the care and leisure devoted to cherubim will be discussed. Education and child labor will be themes that will also be addressed during the popularization conferences.

During this weekend, the theme will serve as a red thread for exhibitions, events, shows, conferences and historical re-enactments. Many activities for children will also be on the program: introduction to the school of squires with Mediévalys Chaumont, writing work with the pen with the museum of “L’école d’autrefois” in Roches-sur-Marne, realization a Nénette and Rintintin woolen doll like children during the Great War (War in the Vosges) and various other activities offered by Métallurgic Park, Rempart Grand Est and the Cutlery Museum in Nogent-sur-Marne. Older children are not forgotten with guided tours, screenings of amateur family films around the theme of childhood and the possibility of having their family films digitized free of charge during the weekend thanks to the intervention of Imag’Est.

A beautiful program in perspective and, for the occasion, the Grand-Jardin castle and its gardens will be accessible free of charge for all visitors.
