The Regional Governor of Arica and Parinacota, Jorge Díaz Ibarra, together with the president of the Infrastructure Commission of the Regional Council, Councilor David Zapata, and the Regional Councilor, Ximena Valcarce, made an inspection visit to the works of the new headquarters Los Industriales III, financed with regional resources and executed by Serviu.
The replacement of this headquarters represents an important step for the residents of this sector, who will benefit from a renovated and safe space for their activities.
The Neighborhood Council No. 69 of Los Industriales III, known as “Santiago Arata Gandolfo”, has faced significant challenges due to the advanced deterioration of its headquarters, which represented a latent danger for neighbors. With an estimated number of beneficiaries at 1,116 people, the need to recover this space was imperative.
The main objective of this initiative is to restore the headquarters to provide the community with a suitable place to carry out various activities. The existing infrastructure had structural deficiencies and advanced deterioration, which prevented the collaborative functioning of community organizations and represented an obstacle to strengthening the self-management capacities of the residents.
The replacement of the Los Industriales III headquarters involved the complete demolition of the existing structure and the construction of a new building that will house a multipurpose room, administration office, warehouse, kitchen and toilets. This intervention will not only improve the physical conditions of the space, but will also promote associativity, teamwork and a sense of belonging in the community.
Regional governor Jorge Díaz Ibarra explained that “this joint effort demonstrates the commitment of the regional authorities to the well-being and development of the inhabitants of Los Industriales III. It is a headquarters that is approximately 90 percent complete and is in very good structural condition because it incorporates universal accessibility and bathrooms for people with disabilities and other elements that have absolutely transformed this space, making it very friendly for the neighbors. and neighbors, so that they can enjoy it more and have a sense of greater relevance.”
Eusebio Sankán, administrator of the work, commented that “we hope to quickly deliver this work, which has an office, 2 bathrooms for people with disabilities, a warehouse and a multipurpose room.”
David Zapata, president of the Infrastructure Commission of the Regional Council, highlighted that “this new headquarters is of a high standard, the neighbors deserve to have this type of neighborhood meetings. It will be given a very important use for the organization of the neighbors and soon this place will be handed over for the use of the community.”
The new headquarters, located at Graneros Street No. 3466, in the Alejandro Azolas, Capitán Ávalos, Retiro and Canteras industrial estate, will occupy an area of 200 m² and will comply with current regulations for construction in areas affected by polymetals and saline soil. . It is estimated that the civil works will be completed in the first half of this year, according to the established contract.
In Los Industriales III, a mitigation plan has been carried out in the surrounding area, affected by the presence of polymetals, in order to improve the environment and protect the health of residents.
